Identifying Counterfeits

Q.  I'm buying a new TiAL Sport product, how do I know if what I am buying is authentic?

A.  Buying from an authorized TiAL Sport dealer is the safest way to ensure that you are buying an authentic TiAL Sport product.   Be extremely careful when buying from auction websites such as Ebay, Amazon, DHGate, TradeMe, etc.  There are lots of Chinese counterfeit parts being sold on these auction sites.  Low pricing should draw a red flag.  If you are in doubt, send us the listing number to the auction and we can verify if the part is genuine or not.

Q.   I'm buying a used TiAL Sport product, how do I make sure what I am buying is authentic?

A.  There are several ways to determine if the TiAL Sport product you are looking to buy is authentic or not.

1.)  Ask the seller for the serial number on the TiAL Sport product you are looking to buy.   Once you get the serial number, email us at  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  If the seller does not give you the serial number, this is typically a red flag that the seller does not have an authentic TiAL Sport product. Some known counterfeit serial numbers that are in circulation are as follows. SN03091178, SN03091512, SN06100285, SN06100268. These are just a few examples that we know of to date, we will continue to update our counterfeit section with new numbers as they come in.

2.)  Ask the seller to give you good, hi resolution photos of the part that you are buying.  Refer to our authenticity photo comparison page found here ( ....  ) to get more information and some examples of what to look for.

Blow-Off Valve Questions

Q.   Where should I have my vacuum line plumbed in to?

A.    Make sure the vacuum line you are using is plumbed in to the intake plenum on your intake manifold.  We also suggest only using a clean line that is not T’d into anything else.

Q.   How do I know if I am using the right spring in my BOV?

A.    You will need to find out what your vacuum reading is at idle.  Once you know what your vacuum reading is, refer to our BOV technical section found here:   http://tialsport.com/documents/w3_tial_qqr_sp.pdf to locate the proper spring for your setup.

A.    This is likely because the spring you are using is too light. You will need to find out what your vacuum reading is at idle. Once you know what your vacuum reading is, refer to our BOV technical section found here:   http://tialsport.com/documents/w3_tial_qqr_sp.pdf to locate the proper spring for your setup.

Wastegate Questions

Q.   How do I hook my wastegate pressure line up?

A.   Make sure that you are using only a boost pressure source.  This can be found anywhere between the turbo compressor housing and before the throttle body.   Do NOT have the boost pressure line plumbed in to the intake plenum.  The intake plenum has both boost pressure and vacuum at different points.  Vacuum can damage the diaphragm in the wastegate housing.

Q.   Where do I plumb the pressure line in to my wastegate?

A.    Secure the boost pressure line to the bottom port on your wastegate.  If you have an MV-R, MV-S or MV-S-A wastegate, be sure to plug the other two open boost pressure ports with the supplied plugs.

Q.   What do I do with the port(s) on top of the wastegate?

A.   The top port(s) on the wastegate are for either a boost controller or MAP pressure signal.  If you are not using either of these, leave the port(s) open to the atmosphere.  If you are using these ports for either a boost controller or MAP pressure signal refer to the manufacturer for installation instructions.
